Obituary

Thomas S. Bongiorno, 67, also known as Mr. Banjor, of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, died suddenly Thursday, Oct. 13, 1994, in the Warren General Hospital, Front Royal, Va., while on a fishing trip. Mr. Bongiorno was born July 7, 1927, in Charleroi, a son of the late Anthony (Tony) and Anna Kovatch Bongiorno. He was a retired junior high teacher of history and a former football coach with Bellmar High School and the Belle Vernon Area School District. Mr.Bongiorno was a member of the Belle Vernon Athletic Association and the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by his wife, Dawn E. Anderson Bongiorno, two sons, Thomas A. Bongiorno (and daughter-in-law Vickie) of Belle Vernon and David C. Bongiorno (and daughter-in-law Patricia) of Washington, Pa., and six grandchildren, Georgina, Jennifer, Amanda, James, Timothy and Karen. Friends will be received in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.,Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday until 11 a.m.,the hour of services in the funeral home,with the Rev.Charles K.Sowden officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
