Virginia (Virgie) Bickerton of 116 State St.;Speers Hill;died Tuesday;June 19;1984;at 4:10 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. She was 85. Born in Speers Nov.2;1898;she was a daughter of the late Louis A.and Harriet A.Hilton Sneed. Mrs.Bickerton was a lifetime resident of Speers and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi. She was a retired school teacher;having worked in a number of area school districts. Mrs.Bickerton was a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the National Education Association. She was a graduate of California Teachers College;now California University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Edward;in 1966. Suriving are one brother;Murel Sneed of Speers Hill and two sisters;Alma Sneed of Speers Hill and Mrs.John (Eleanor) Vetter of Fallowfield Township. Friends are being received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home;Inc.;226 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi;where funeral services will be held Thursday;June 21;at 11 a.m.with Rev.Francis M.Blair;pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi;officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home;Inc.;is in charge of arrangements.
