Mr.Bakewell was born March 7;1904;in Brownsville;a son of the late Albert and Rachael Bakewell. He was Protestant by faith. Mr.Bakewell retired in 1969 from Monessen Southwestern Railroad;Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;with 34 years service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers;Irwin;Jack;Boyd and James;and three sisters;Ruth Hoyle;Beatrice Burd and Helen Theakston. Surviviors include his wife;Gladys Abbott Bakewell;two sons;Jack of Belle Vernon and Bill of Joppatowne;Md.;two daughters;Mrs.Gene (Marilois) Hopes of California;Pa.;and Mrs.Metro (Elaine) Backo of Belle Vernon;three sisters;Mrs.Betty Frost of Centerville;Mrs.Cecil Fulmer of Brwnsville and Mrs.Virginia Whiting of Centerville;12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Monday;Dec.12;at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Charles LaPlaca;pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon;officiating.
