Herman C. Behrendt,21 Arch St.,Monessen,died Tuesday,Jan. 31,2008 at 7:15 p.m. at the Haven Crest Nursing Home following a declining illness. He was 71. Born in Charleroi,Oct. 6,1911,he was a resident of Monessen all his adult life. He retired as a peeler operator from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. Mr. Behrendt was a member of the Scottdale Elks No. 777 and the Allenport Retired Steelworkers. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Behrendt. Surviving are his mother, Edith Fowler Behrendt of Charleroi;his wife, Augustine Moreau Behrendt;a daughter, Mrs.Larry (Louise) Kelly of St. Clair Shore, Mich.;a son, Dr. Richard Behrendt of Las Vegas, Nev.;three grandaughters, Barbara,Donna and Lisa Behrendt and a sister, Ruth of Charleroi. Friends are being received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home,Grand Boulevard and Marion Ave.,Monessen. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Patrick J. O'Connor officiating. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Robert A. Billick Funeral Home,Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
