Obituary

Donald E. Byron of Athalia Ave.,Monessen,died Thursday,May 20,1982,at 6:15 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital.  He was 56. Mr. Byron was born Dec. 28,1925,in Monessen,a son of the late William and Alice Warbutton Byron. He was retired from the blast furnace department of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Monessen Plant. Mr. Byron was Episcopalian by faith.  A member of the F&AM Lodge and the American Legion,both in Monessen,he was known on the CB radio as "Joe Kool." Mr. Byron was a veteran of the U.S.Navy. Survivors include his widow,Betty Zdella Byron;one son,Donald William (Buzzy) Byron of Monessen;two grandchildren;one brother and one sister, Dwyane J.Byron and Mrs. Roberta Hendrickson,both of Monessen. Friends will be received in the Ed Melenyzer Funeral Home,Inc.,825 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleoi,on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m.with Rite of Burial Office at the funeral home,with the Rev. Father Keith L. Ackerman of St. Mary's Episcopal Church,Charleroi,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Masonic services will be held on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.  Ed Melenyzer Funeral Home,Inc.,is in charge of arrangements.
