Elmer L. Britt,Sr.,of 100 Beacon Sr.,Belle Vernon,died in Monongahela Valley Hospital,Carroll Twp.,at 7 p.m. Thursday,Nov. 22,1979. He was 87. Mr. Britt was born in West Brownsville on Nov. 22,1892,a son of the late Edwand and Ella Shipley Britt. He was a resident of Belle Vernon for more thatn 50 years. He retired in 1960 as a conductor for the Pennsylvania and Lake Erie Railroad. Mr. Britt was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Worrell Britt,and two sons, John Britt and James Britt. Surviving are a son, Elmer L. Britt Jr. of Belle Vernon;two daughters, Mrs. Clarkson (Emma) Book of Belle Vernon and Mrs. Raymond (Ella May) Owens of Belle Vernon;one sister, Mrs. Bertha Sullivan of Markleysburg, Pa., 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,after 7 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 1 p.m.,with the Rev. Seth P. Bower of First United Methodist Church of Roscoe officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
