Mary Balaska;77;of 518 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;died Tuesday;March 6;1979 at her home. Born May 27;1901;in Star Junction;she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Cirbus Brazack. A resident of this area since she was married 62 years ago;Mrs.Balaska was a member of St.John’s Slovak Lutheran Church of Charleroi and a former Sunday School teacher of the church. She was a member of both the Senior and Junior Altar Guilds;the Zivena Lodge of Charleroi and the Goldstar Mothers of the Belle Vernon American Legion. She was preceded in death by a son;John Balaska;in 1944. She is survived by her husband;John Balaska;three sons;Albert M.Balaska and Robert A.Balaska;both of Belle Vernon;and Richard (Kenny) Balaska of Niantic;Conn.;one daughter;Mrs.John (Helen) Zofko of Warren;Ohio;two brothers;Paul Brazack of Belle Vernon and Martin Brazack of Miami;Fla.;nine grandchildren;and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon after 7 p.m. on Wednesday;where blessing services will be on Friday at 10 a.m.;followed by funeral services at St.John’s Slovak Lutheran Church with the Rev.Stephen C.Hurnyak;officiating.
