Joseph Ambrose;77;of 316 Graham St.;Belle Vernon;died Friday;April 1;1994;at 5:30 a.m.in the Washington County Health Center. He was born Nov.22;1916;in Belle Vernon;a son of the late Fidel and Theresa Ambrose. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon;he was a U.S.Navy veteran of World War II. Mr.Ambrose was a retired railroad employee;having worked at Shire Oaks. After retiring from the railroad;he worked for the Belle Vernon Area School District at Bellmar Middle School. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his first wife;Mary Ross Ambrose;his second wife;Grace Mills Ambrose;two brothers;Vincenzo and Fred Ambrose;and two sisters;Josephine Mendicino and Rose Weigle. Survivors include two sons;Fred Joseph Ambrose of Cokeburg and Joseph Fidel Ambrose of Frankfort;Ohio;two stepsons;Alden Mills of Belle Vernon and Clark Mills of Philadelphia;one stepdaughter;Lana Mills Vrabel of Lakewood;Ohio;one brother;Charles Ambrose of Belle Vernon;one sister;Catherine Vaccaro of Monessen;four grandchildren;seven stepgrandchildren;several step-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.James Burton;pastor of the First Presbytrerian Church of Belle Vernon;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
