Jesse H. Ashley,71,of RD 1,Irwin,died Wednesday,Sept. 26,1979,at 10:25 a.m. at Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. The son of the late Jesse and Mary Riley Ashley,he was born Dec. 28,1907 in Fayette City. He was a retired United Mine Worker,and PennDOT employee and member of the Mars Hill Baptist Church. A resident of Irwin for the past five years, he was formerly a resident of the Fairhope and Dunlevy areas. Surviving are his wife, Alice Weimer Ashley; a daughter, Mrs. Kay Wareham of RD 1,New Stanton; two sisters, Mrs. Jeannette Reichert of Fairhope and Mrs. Edith Shopshire of Youngstown, Ohio; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services are planned at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,with Rev. G. Forrest Sparks officiating and interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
