Obituary

Thomas 'Waterman’ Chunkala, 62, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, October 19, 2012 in Forbes Regional Health Center. A son of the late Joseph and Mary Panczyn Chunkala, he was born in N. Charleroi on February 7, 1950. Catholic by faith, he graduated from Rostraver High School in 1968. Tom had been employed at the General Motors Fisher Body Plant for 31 years, retiring in 2000. He was a former member and president of Mon Valley Cruisers and enjoyed car shows with his 1940 Coupe and 1949 Ford. For over 20 years, he sold die cast cars from his home. Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Amy and Rod Hussey of North Carolina, Cheryl Smith, Valerie Chunkala and Andrea and Sam Johnson, all of West Virginia, one sister, Marijo Day of Belle Vernon, one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Dolores Chunkala of Belle Vernon and eleven grandchildren, Matthew, Kepreshia, Courtney, Valerie, Lindsey, Thomas, Joseph, Kelley, Tanner, Kaitlynn and Ella. He is also survived by Regina Jones of West Virginia. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, (724-929-5300). www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. A blessing service will be in the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. with Msgr. Roger A. Statnick officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
