Obituary

Pete Katinsky 92 of Charleroi died Thursday July 27, 2012 at Mon Valley Hosp. Born November 27, 1919 a son of Joseph and Catherine Howal Katinsky. Mr. Katinsky was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport Plant after 45yrs of service. He was a WWII Army veteran. Mr. Katinsky was a Sergeant serving with the 156th Field Artillery Battalion. He received 3 Medals of Honor. Mr. Katinsky was a lifetime member and served serveral terms as a trustee of the American Legion Post # 22 Charleroi. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Peter E. and Virginia Katinsky of Fallowfield Twp. 3 daughters and sons-in-law Connie and David Hayduk of Sedona, AZ, Cathy and Ken Sharpetta of Littleton, CO, and Freida May Platt of Yucca Valley, CA., a sister Josephine Smith of Newport News, VA, 5 grandchildren Kristi and Kenny Sharpetta, and Peter Brett, Brooke Leigh and Brandon Trent Katinsky, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Proceded in death by his wife Helen Sowinski Katinsky, a brother Mike Katinsky and 4 sisters, Anna Bazilewich, Stella Dusick, and Olga Batchlor. There will be no public visitation. A funeral blessing will be held on Monday July 30, 2012 at 11:00am at Belle Vernon Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Mikonis. Full military rites will be accorded by the Americal Legion Post #22 Charleroi. The Leonard M. Pavlic Funeral Homes, Inc. Charleroi is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Legion Post #22 Charleroi.
