Ethel Furnier Amalong; 87; of Daisytown; passed away peacefully on Sunday; May 27; 2012. Born in Roscoe on Feb. 17; 1925; she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Josephine Kennedy Furnier. Mrs. Amalong retired as a lab technician from the former Corning Glass in Charleroi after 33 years of employment. She is survived by two sons; John Bertovich; of Daisytown; and Josh Amalong and wife; Amanda; of Bessemer; Pa.; three grandsons; Seneca Bertovich; of Novato; Calif.; Andrew Bertovich; of Boise; Idaho; and Tony Encapera and wife; Dana; of Perryopolis; a great-granddaughter; Sage Encapera; and a sister; Joanne Talucci of Syracuse; N.Y. In addition to her parents; she was predeceased by her husband; Wendell J. Amalong; on March 1; 2003; two sons; Mark and Anthony Bertovich; a brother; Daniel Furnier; and a sister; Betty Kronander. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Melenyzer-DuBarr Funeral Homes & Cremation Services; Inc.; 1008 Furlong Avenue; Roscoe. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
