James Laird; 71; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Sunday; July 17; 2011; at 8:15 p.m. at Country Care Manor. Born Nov. 4; 1939; in Monessen; he was the son of the late Wallace and Mary Damore Laird. A resident of Rostraver Township; Mr. Laird attended Pricedale Union Church; was a retired instrument technician from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Monessen and Allenport Plants. He was a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Region Early Ford V8 Club; enjoyed antique automobiles; drag racing; and traveling to various air shows across the country. He is survived by his wife; Lillian Pozum Laird; to whom he was married 49 years; son; William Laird; of Belle Vernon; and fiance; Kelly Rockwell; two daughters and sons-in-law; Eleanor and Kenneth Beaver; of Kingsville; Ohio; and Elaine and Charles Gaertner; of Carrboro; N.C.; brother and sister-in-law; David and Alana Laird; of Phoenix; Ariz.; four grandchildren; Devastashah and Leo Beaver; Greta and Van Gaertner; and a great-grandson; Augusten Beaver. He was preceded in death by his brother; Wallace Laird Jr. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J.
