Obituary

Elizabeth Betty Hamer, 96, formerly of Dent Street, Fairhope, Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, in the Mon Valley Care Center. A daughter of the late Wilbert and Nettie Strawn Middleton, she was born Oct. 6, 1914. She was a member of the Marion Presbyterian Church, where she was a faithful willing worker, pianist, deacon, custodian, hostess for church dinners, and taught Sunday School for many years and had been active with both the Belle Vernon and Fayette City Golden Agers. Betty had been employed by the Ferguson family for over 40 years, lived most of her adult life in Fairhope, and during her later years, resided at The Residence at Hilltop for 5 1/2 years prior to moving to the Mon Valley Care Center in August of 2009. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Grace and Norman Gilotty, of Fayette City, and Darla Belsick of Fairhope, one son and two daughters-in-law, Dale and Arden Hamer, of Murrysville, and Sharon Hamer, of Fairhope, 14 grandchildren, Monica Gilotty, Karen and Bill Stimmell, Christine Gilotty, Michael and Lisa Gilotty, Brian and Kristen Gilotty, Dean and Kelly Gilotty, Kenny and Kelly Gilotty, Lisa and Jamison Jenkins, Megan and Chris Tomley, Darrin Belsick, Dale Belsick, David and Rachael Hamer and Donald and Valerie Hamer, 17 great-grandchildren, Anthony and Maria Stimmell, Josh Gilotty, Kaleigh and Gianna Gilotty, Brandon Gilotty, Sarah and Laney Gilotty, Emily Engber, J.J. and Ellie Jenkins, Arden and Miles Tomley, Cameron Hamer and Colby, Ryan and Courtney Hamer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hamer, on Aug. 17, 1967, a son, Robert Hamer, on Oct. 27, 2009, a granddaughter, Lauren Daele Engber, on Nov. 14, 2008, a son-in-law, Joseph Belsick, on Dec. 8, 2010, and a brother in infancy. Friends will be received Thursday, June 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com, (724) 929-5300, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Friday, June 10, at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Prinkey officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
