Obituary

Michael Wokaly, 78, of Belle Vernon (Washington Township), died Friday, April 15, 2011, in The Donnell House in Washington, Pa. Born in Monessen, Sept.22, 1932, he was a son of the late George and Susan Wokaly. Michael was a Korean War veteran, where he served his country as a staff sergeant in the Army. After obtaining a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Michael became a vocational education teacher of auto body repair at both Mon Valley and Steel Valley Vo-Techs, before retiring. He enjoyed gardening and driving to his camp in the mountains, as well as a good cup of coffee and good conversation with his many friends. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Sue and Chetley Deiley, of Jefferson Hills, two sisters, Margaret Belline, of Canfield, Ohio, and Suzanne Steinmiller, of Bridgeport, W.Va., and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie (Kerlin) Wokaly, his twin brother, George, and brothers, John and David Wokaly. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township, (724-929-7934), where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Very Rev. Igor Soroka officiating.
