Obituary

Willie D. Football Lloyd, 84, of Monessen, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, in the Hallsworth House, Charleroi. Born Feb. 16, 1926, to the late David Lloyd and Candia Dupree Soloman Lloyd. Willie was a veteran of the U.S. Army for over 30 years. He was presently employed with Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center in New York until his illness. He was the Union Red of the local Union 1199. He was a member of Emannuel Baptist Church, Rankin. He loved life and being with family and friends. He was a very giving person and loved helping others. He was preceded in death by his wife, Orrie Vicky Lloyd, his son, David Mitch Lloyd, four sisters, and one brother. Willie is leaving to cherish his memory, a son, Richard Allen Tige Lloyd Sr., of Monessen, and a daughter, Davina (Lloyd Matthews) Cook, of Monessen, nine grandchildren, Davina Lloyd-McFarland and husband, Ben, of Maryland, Tamon Lloyd, of Colorado, William Peachie Johnson, who is serving in Afghanistan, Richard A. Lloyd Jr., of West Virginia, Markell Cook, of Monessen, Doris Cook, of Charleroi, Ingrid Cooke, of Mississippi, Tigella Carpender and husband, Les, of West Virginia, and Taniesha Lloyd, of West Virginia, 13 great-grandchildren, a loving cousin, Rosie McCarthy, of Arnold City, a devoted friend, Felix Jacob, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 28, from 11 a.m. to noon, at which time services will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Rankin, with the Rev. Wanda L. Sawyer giving the eulogy. Private interment will be held by the family following the service. The WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Trudy Taylor Bristol, director.
