James A. Sharpie Mays; 59; of Charleroi; formerly of Monessen; departed this life on Tuesday; Nov. 9; 2010. Born Oct. 22; 1951; in Mississippi; he was the son of the late Inez V. Mays. Sharpie; as he was affectionately called; was a lifelong resident of Monessen. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter; Sequoia Mays-Stringa; of Charleroi; one son; James A. Mays Jr.; of Washington; one brother; Wayne (Mary) Mays; of Bronx; N.Y.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Family and friends will be received Friday; Nov. 12; from 6 to 8 p.m. in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church; 230 Reed Ave.; Monessen. An additional viewing will be held in the church on Saturday; Nov. 13; from 10 to 11 a.m.; the hour of service with Elder Jack Howell officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
