Henry E. Vandernitte; 89; of Belle Vernon; passed away Wednesday; July 28; 2010; in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A son of the late Joseph and Nancy Huffman Vandernitte; he was born in Phillipsburg on Aug. 15; 1921. He was a member of the Christian Church of California; retired in 1982 from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company; and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife; Lorraine Andercheck Kissell Vandernitte; one son; Keith Vandernitte; of Spartanburg; SC; five stepchildren; Sandy and Larry Solomon; of Elizabeth; Cheryl and Jack Knight; of Canonsburg; John Paul and Marie Kissell; of Monessen; Tim and Barbara Kissell; of Mucungie Borough; and Melanie Kissell; of Arcadia; Calif.; 40 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one sister; Rita Lutz; of California; and three sisters-in-law; Sonya Andercheck; Dorothy Janosik; and Grace Vandernitte. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wives; Louise Houston Vandernitte; and Mary O’Brien Pupelli Vandernitte; one daughter; Gail Barone; and one brother; Joe Vandernitte.
