Bernard J. Chorba; 77; of Belle Vernon; Washington Township; died Thursday; April 29; 2010; at 8:12 a.m. at his home. Born Jan. 29; 1933; in Star Junction; he was the son of the late Rudolph and Elizabeth Bartko Chorba. A resident of Washington Township for the past 43 years; Mr. Chorba was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the U.S. Army. He was a retired pipefitter from U.S. Steel Clairton Works. He was a member of the Naomi Club; where he served as secretary; social member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; Fayette City American Legion Post 484; Russian Club of Pricedale; Fairhope and Allenport Rod and Gun Clubs; VFW; Monessen Elks Loom 773; and was an avid sports fan; golfer and hunter. His pride and joy was his wife; children; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife; Elizabeth Kroskie Chorba; to whom he was married 47 years; two daughters and sons-in-law; Cindy and Bill Teets Sr.; of Carroll Township; Terrie and Robert Reeves; of Charleroi; three sons and daughters-in-law; Tom and Cheryl Chorba; of Elizabeth; Brian and Laurie Chorba; of Jefferson Hills; Bernie and Deb Chorba; of Bethel Park; nine grandchildren; Bo; Bobby; Adam; Ryan; Courtney; Christopher; Tommy; Cassidy and Tyler; three great-grandchildren; Lyla; Carmen and John Ryan; and many dear relatives. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Rudolph and Emil Chorba; a sister; Mary Skvarna; and a great-granddaughter; Lucianna Theresa Reeves. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; Family Owned and Operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. LAwrence L. Manchas; pastor; as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Bernard Chorba Monday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
