Obituary

Joseph A. Stringhill, 72, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born April 20, 1937, in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late Frank and Genevieve Bianchi Stringhill. A resident of Washington Township for the past 45 years, Mr. Stringhill was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. He was the owner/operator of the former Stringhill's Restaurant, Washington Township. He was currently serving on the Belle Vernon Area School Board, member of the Fayette City-Washington Township Lions Club, Fayette City American Legion, served Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed gardening, camping, and especially enjoyed cooking and having Sunday dinner for his family. He was also a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Judith Swantek Stringhill, to whom he would have been married 50 years on June 18, 2010, two daughters and a son-in-law, Jackie Nicholson, of Fruitland, Fla., Jodi and Frank Monack, of Perryopolis, a son, Joseph C. Stringhill, of Belle Vernon, a brother and sister-in-law, John and Patti Stringhill, of North Belle Vernon, a sister, Flora Stringhill, of North Belle Vernon, and five grandchildren, Courtney Chester, Haley Stringhill, Caitlin Nicholson, Logan and Madison Monack. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home followed by funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Joseph Stringhill Tuesday at 3 p.m. and the Fayette City/Washington Township Lions Club will conduct services Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., both in the funeral home.
