Elma D. Peters, 92, of Waynesburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in her home. A daughter of the late Sam and Helen (Choker) Gelotti, she was born in North Belle Vernon on September 12, 1932.
Formerly of Sutersville, Elma has resided in Waynesburg for the past 23 years. Catholic by faith, she was a member of St. Mathias Roman Catholic Parish in Greene County. Elma loved cooking and baking, and was known for her pies. A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she loved attending her grandchildrens’ sporting events and school activities.
She is survived by a daugher and son in-law, Sandy Funk and Ben Gundrum of Washington, a son and daughter in-law, Sam and Denise McLaughlin of Waynesburg; three grandchildren, Samuel (Samantha) McLaughlin of Waynesburg, Andrew (Rachel) McLaughlin of Waynesburg, and Nathaniel James Funk of Washington; and four great grandchildren, Kaylee Jo, Tyler Paul, Harper Elizabeth, and Jacob David McLaughlin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Howard McLaughlin in 1964, her second husband, Earl W. Peters in 2009, a son, Earl R. Peters in 2023, a grandson, Matthew John McLaughlin in 1984, and a sister, Dorothy Candelore in 2024.
Friends will be received on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300. www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A blessing will begin at 12:30 P.M. followed by a mass at 1 P.M. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Thomas as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
