Obituary

Vincent Jim Manetta, 83, of Belle Vernon, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012, in his home. A son of the late Berardino and Rose LaCarte Manetta, he was born in Monessen on April 26, 1928. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 53 years, he was formerly of Monessen. Jim was Catholic by faith, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a member of the Monessen American Legion, Thomas McKee Post 28, and retired in 1993 from Rock-Tenn in Charleroi. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joanne Cunningham Manetta, one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dean Smith, of Monessen, one son, Vince Manetta, of Morgantown, W.Va., four grandchildren, Carly Smith, of Pittsburgh, Matthew Manetta, of Helsinki, Finland, Rachael Manetta, of Dodge City, Kan., and Steven Manetta, of Ames, Iowa, and two brothers, Bernardo Manett, of Belle Vernon, and Geno Manetta, of Smithton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, in infancy, Joan Bernadetta Manetta in 1962, and one brother, Frank Manetta. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the family's home, 709 Fayette Ave., Belle Vernon. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
