Obituary

Geraldine M. Chookie Moran, 80, of Belle Vernon, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late William and Mary Condash Hawk, she was born in Arnold City on July 1, 1930. Chookie was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. She loved her children and grandchildren and going to the casinos. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Romaine Moran, of LaPlata, Md., and Tracey and Ronald Paugh, of Elkridge, Md., one sister, Marian Coleman, of Cape Cod, Mass., one brother, Robert Hawk, of Cleveland, and two grandchildren, Ronald Lawrence Paugh and Kayli Nicole Paugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Moran, on June 25, 2009, and one daughter, Charmaine L. Moran, in 1956. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., (724) 929-5300, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. A blessing service will be in the funeral home Monday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. with Msgr. Roger Statnick officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
