Obituary

Pamala D. Gilmer, 60, of Belle Vernon, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. A daughter of the late Chester and Truby Blankenship Allen, she was born in West Virginia on Nov. 19, 1948. Formerly of Ohio, Pamala had resided in Belle Vernon since 1981, attended the Pricedale Union Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Charleroi American Legion. She retired after 15 years as a home health aide for Albert Gallatin Home Health Care. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Lisa Sowko, of Belle Vernon, and Angela and Stephen Chapley, of Uniontown, three sisters and one brother-in-law, Barbara and Francis Wray, and Virginia Wilmoth, all of Rittman, Ohio, and Mary Allen, of Medina, Ohio, five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jimmie and Shirley Allen, of Seville, Ohio, Danny Allen of Rittman, Ohio, Chester Allen, Randy and Isis Allen, all of Medina, Ohio, and Jerry and Jorga Allen, of Wadsworth, Ohio, two grandchildren, Emily Keller, of Uniontown, and Alec Sowko, of Belle Vernon, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Matthew M. Newberger, in 1984, and John R. Gilmer in 1999, one sister, Diana Brown, one brother, Tommie Allen, and a son-in-law, Thomas Sowko, in 1997. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC., www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com, (724) 929-5300, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Monday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. with Pastor James Mimidis officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
