Mike Wassilchalk Jr., 83, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, at his home. Born Oct. 9, 1942, in North Charleroi, he was the son of Mike and Anna Tadavich Wassilchalk Sr. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon, Mike was Byzantine Catholic by faith. He was retired from the former Consol Coal Co., where he worked as a distribution/sales manager. He was a life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department, faithfully holding the office of financial secretary for 50 years. He was employed at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home for many years. Mike was an avid, vintage NASCAR fan, traveling to numerous racetracks, a Pitt Panther fan and a BVA Leopard fan. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling to Daytona Beach with his family. Most of all, Mike was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren, following them to their various sports and academic activities. He is survived by his wife, Carole Abbott Wassilchalk, to whom he would have been married 58 years in June; two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice E. and Christian Breckenridge of Washington Township, Donna A. and Dave Semon of Jacobs Creek; son and daughter- in-law, Mark A. and Gala Wassilchalk of Somerset; three grandchildren, Elizabeth C. Breckenridge, Thomas M. Breckenridge, Tanner B. Wassilchalk; brother-inlaw, Edward Lesovic of North Belle Vernon; and nephew, Scott E. Lesovic. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Marie Lesovic. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parzynski Funeral Home with Deacon John Hanchin officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department will conduct services at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Mike Wassilchalk Jr. to North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department or the cancer society.
