Edwin T. Latchem Sr.; 72; of Washington Township; died Wednesday; Nov. 26; 2008; in Allegheny General Hospital; Pittsburgh. He was born in North Charleroi on Jan. 10; 1936; a son of the late Willard and Harriet (McMurray) Latchem. Ed grew up in Charleroi and was a 1953 graduate of Charleroi High School. He received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Penn State University. Mr. Latchem was a P.E. Civil Engineer; having retired from PennDOT in May 2007. He had worked in the same capacity for numerous construction companies over the years. Mr. Latchem was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; the Washington Township Planning Commission since 2001; and an alumnus of Theta Chi Fraternity at Penn State University. Ed served his country from 1957 to 1959 as a member of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife of 24 years; Judy (Zimmaro) Latchem; three sons; Edwin T. Latchem Jr.; of Greensburg; Stephen Latchem; of Austin; Texas; and Mark Krusec; of Silver Spring; Md.; his daughter and son-in-law; Carol and James Bischoff; of Newark; Del.; a brother; Floyd Latchem; of Uniontown; four grandchildren; Derek; Maxwell; Isabella and Alexander; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICES; 441 Reed Ave.; Monessen (724-684-8750). Services will be held Monday; Dec. 1; at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Suzanne Currie of First Presbyterian Church in Belle Vernon officiating.
