Obituary

Dora Gallo, 98, of Belle Vernon, died Friday, July 9, 2010, in Havencrest Nursing Center, Carroll Township. Born in Belle Vernon on Feb. 27, 1912, she was the daughter of the late August and Rose Sylvestre. A homemaker, Dora was a lifelong member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Rostraver Township. Throughout the years, she taught the Whatsoever Class, worked with the Abiding Memorial Fund, and for many years taught Junior Class. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Gallo, of Minneapolis, Minn., a granddaughter, Amanda (Chris) Bartz, of Arizona, three great-grandchildren, Cody, Delaney, and Nicholas Bartz. In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh E. Gallo, two daughters, Jacqueline Gallo and Shirley Gallo Succop, and a grandson, Robert Succop. Dora was the last surviving member of her family. Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 13, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township, (724) 929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Sommerfeldt and Rev. D. W. Norton co-officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Rostraver Township.
