Paul Gus Cope; 90 of Brownstown; Fayette City; PA; passed away; Monday; January 2; 2012 at the residence of his daughter Rev. Donna Hoover in Apalachin; NY.

He was born February 7; 1921 in Fairhope; Washington Twp. Fayette Co.; PA; a son of the late Paul G Cope Sr. and the late Manzella Hager Cope. Paul was a member of the Fayette City Alliance Church. He was a US Coast Guard veteran of World War II and member of the Brightwell-Daughtery American Legion Post 484; Fayette City; Pa. Paul was retired from the oil well tube division of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant.

He is survived by a son; Rev. Paul G Cope and wife Connie of Fayette City; daughter; Rev. Donna Lee Hoover and husband Rev. Fred Hoover of Apalachin;NY; granddaughter; Patti Lingefelt and husband Ken; granddaughter; Rebecca Deming and husband Rev. Kevin; granddaughter; Christine Baum and husband Matthew; grandson; Paul Timothy Cope and wife Misty; grandson; Paul David Hoover and wife Rebecca; grandson; Mark Hoover and wife Wendy; granddaughter; Lynette Marshall and husband Spencer; granddaughter; Pamela Cantella and husband David; 21 great-grandchildren including Dawn E. LaFrate of Clinton Twp.; MI.

He was preceded in death by his wife Olive Mae Lindey Cope on October 4; 2009; two infant daughters;Sandra 1946; and Karen 1948.

Friends will be received Friday; January 6; 2012 from 6-8 pm in the Fayette City Alliance Church; 211 Connellsville St.; Fayette City. Funeral Services will be held at 8:00 pm in the Church with Rev. Paul G Cope; Rev. Donna Hoover and Rev. Fred Hoover co-officiating. Interment will take place Saturday; January 7; 2012 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the Belle Vernon Cemetery with full military honors by Brightwell-Daughtery Post 484 firing squad. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Eley/McCrory Funeral Home; Inc.; 334 Main St.; Fayette City; Pa.(724)-326-5621;www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com.
