Mary Paterra Tintori; of North Belle Vernon; passed away peacefully Thursday; June 9; 2011; at the home of her son and daughter-in-law; in Greensburg; at the age of 101 years young. She was born Sept. 19; 1909; in Monessen; the daughter of the late Sisto and Clelia D’orio Paterra. A resident of North Belle Vernon most of her adult life; she resided in Greensburg for the past eight years. Mrs. Tintori was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; was a member of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas B.V. Court 1522; the Women’s Group; and sang in the church choir and with the Madhatters Group. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love of God; family; friends and community services in which she and her husband felt honored to serve. Her philosophy of life was simple: use your God-given talents and always give your best in everything you do; and her trademark phrase; The Greatest is Love ; will live through her family and friends. The last of eight children; she is survived by son and daughter-in-law; Mark and Kaaren Tintori; of Greensburg; daughter; Claire Tintori; of Regent Square; Pittsburgh; many loving nieces; nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph Tintori (Nov. 2002) to whom she was married 61 years; four brothers Guy; John; Frank and Bill Paterra; and three sisters; Edith Nesti; Hilda Salotti and Linda Picchiarini. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the LEONARD J. Prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday in the funeral home followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; concelebrated by Monsignor Roger A. Statnick and the Rev. Donald Nesti. Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian Parish will pray the Rosary for the departed soul of Mary Tintori at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
