Obituary

James Nevins,78,of Charleroi,died Saturday Dec. 24,2016 at Monongahela Valley Hospital.  Born Dec.23,1938 in Charleroi,he was a son of John and Isabelle Bendock Nevins.  Jim was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and was a U.S.Army veteran.  He was a member of Mary,Mother of the Church,Charleroi,and the Charleroi Knights of Columbus Council 956.  Jim enjoyed spending time at his cabin and was an avid fisherman.  Surviving are a sister,Dolores Beres of Virginia Beach,Va.;a brother,Thomas (Carol) Nevins of Carroll Township;four nephews,Michael Beres,Robert Beres Jr.,Patrick Beres and Ryan Nevins;a niece,Lori Hega;and several great-nieces and great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by a nephew,Timothy Beres;and a brother-in-law,Robert Beres.  Visitation will be held  2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.Wednesday Dec.28,2016 in the LEONARD M. PAVLIC FUNERAL HOMES INC.235 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday Dec.29,2016,at Mary, Mother of the Church,Charleroi with Rev. Gerald Mikonis as celebrant.  Interment will follow at Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Military honors will be accorded by the U.S.Army Honor Guard.  The Charleroi Knights of Columbus Council 956 will gather at the funeral home for Prayers 7 p.m. Wednesday.  Online condolences may be made at www.pavlicfuneralhomes.com.
