Dorothy Florence (Woods) Smith, 82, formerly of Charleroi, passed away July 24, 2015, with family at her side at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born Dec. 18, 1932, to the late James Woods and Bertha Huston Woods, in Connellsville. "Dot", as she was so affectionately called, was a hard worker and loved taking care of her family. She was retired from Corning Glass. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, James T.W. Smith Jr. of Charleroi, one daughter, Toni Elaine Othieno of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Arthur Woods of Uniontown; and two sisters, Bertha Woods of Alexandria, Va., and Mabel Tina Chriss of Maryland; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by three children, James, Denise and Deborah Smith; and four siblings, Stanley "Joker" Woods, Bernice Woods, Thelma Woods and France Lane. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Brushton Avenue, Lock No. 4, Charleroi, Pa. Friends can be received as well from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 30. Services begin at noon at the church with the Rev. Dr. Diane F. Hobson, pastor of the church, giving the eulogy.
