Ronald Ray Powley, 79, of Fallowfield Township, passed away Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1935, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the son of the late Harvey and Mildred Hooper Powley. Mr. Powley was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Charleroi First United Methodist Church, the Telephone Pioneers Club, past vice president of the Local 59 Federation of Telephone Workers of PA union and later Local 59 union rep. with the CWA Union. Mr. Powley retired from Bell Atlantic-Verizon Co. in 1992 with 39 years of service. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Rager and husband, Wayne, of Dillonvale, Ohio; stepdaughter, Linda Ellin of Belle Vernon; two stepsons, Michael Matyas of Speers Hill and Martin Matyas and wife, Amie, of Fallowfield Township; five grandchildren, Albert Imbrogno and wife, Kelly, Jenna, Michael, Martin and Kaleigh Matyas; and one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Imbrogno. In addition to his parents, Mr. Powley was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Mitchner Powley; stepdaughter, Sandra Matyas; four sisters, Colleen Kaminski, Donna Powley, Beverly Powley and Phyllis Powley. At the wishes of Mr. Powley, there will be no public viewing, and funeral services will be private.
