Obituary

Viola M. Reece, 101, formerly of North Belle Vernon, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010, in the Good Samaritan Skilled Nursing Center, Daytona Beach, Fla. A daughter of the late Thomas and Lydia Waller Glatfelter, she was born in Eighty Four on Jan. 31, 1909. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, of Belle Vernon, where she had been a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years, and the United Methodist Women. She had resided in Florida with her daughter for the past year, and prior to that, had resided in North Belle Vernon since 1946. Viola loved gardening and baking. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Daniel Snow, of Port Orange, Fla., one son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Janis Reece, of Monessen, four grandchildren, Ernie Reece and his wife, Kristi, Melissa Reece, Robert A. Van Fleet and his wife, Sharon, and David C. Van Fleet and his wife, Sabrina, and four great-grandchildren, Aaron, Allison and Grant Van Fleet and Shayne Reece. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron E. Reece, on March 22, 1981, one brother, William Glatfelter, and four sisters, Myrtle Glatfelter, Margaret Homme, Flora Turner, and Mary Stimmell.
