Steve M. Semancik; 94; of Abingdon; Va.; formerly of Belle Vernon; Washington Township; died Monday; Dec. 31; 2012; at Hospice House; Bristol; Tenn. Born June 13; 1918; in Wickhaven; he was the son of the late Michael P. and Elizabeth Gurbal Semancik. Mr. Semancik lived with his son in Abingdon; Va.; for the past five years. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Jednotta Slovak Union. He had worked as a coal miner and carpenter and was devoted to his work. The last surviving member of his family; he is survived by a daughter; Diane Semancik; son and daughter-in-law; Stephen D. and Peggy Semancik of Abingdon; Va.; brother-in-law; Oscar Kluh of Potomac; Md.; three granddaughters; Vicky Andrew and husband; Scott; of Bethel Park; Helena Glaneman and husband; John; of Carroll Township and Elizabeth Semancik White and husband; Brian; of Atlanta; Ga.; seven great-grandchildren; Tyler Andrew; Kendra Andrew; Natalie Glaneman; John Glaneman Jr.; Sarah Glaneman; Fiona Elizabeth White and Annabel Avery White. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; whom he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his wife; Margarette Moskal Semancik on Feb. 28; 2007; seven brothers; Albert; John; Andrew; Michael; Frank; Anthony and Joseph Semancik; and two sisters; Mary Miller and Julia Kluh. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS; Family Owned and Operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon; 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick; pastor; as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery with several nephews and family members serving as pall bearers.
