Sandra Sue Rocco Cook,69,of Belle Vernon,went to be with the Lord on Tuesday,Feb. 6,2018,after a long and corageous battle with lung cancer. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 1,1948,in Purseglove,W.Va.,and her family then relocated to Monessen where she enjoyed growing up. She was known to her friends as "Sanka" and graduated from Monessen High School in 1967 where she was a majorette. She enjoyed going to dances and 1950s doo-wop music. She was very proud to hold the title of "Ms. Mon Valley Mother-Daughter Queens 1997" with her daughter and best friend,Rosalyn Christopher. She was employed for over 40 years in the home health care field where she was an advocate for protecting the elderly. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gladys Rocco;and a brother, Charles Rocco. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years,James Cook,of Belle Vernon;daughter,Rosalyn and husband,James Christopher,of Belle Vernon;granddaughter,Bethany and husband,Steve DeLeonibus,of Belle Vernon;and great-grandson and the love of her life, Gino DeLeonibus. She is also survived by a brother,John Paul Rocco of Belle Vernon;and a sister, Carolyn Kay Neff and husband,Charles,of Belle Vernon;and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Boulevard,Monessen. As per Mrs. Cook's request,there was no public visitaion and private burial took place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
