Obituary

David A. Day, 75, of Lynnwood, Belle Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A son of the late Charles and Sara (Eland) Day, he was born in Monessen on June 8, 1936. He was an accomplished guitar player and had his own band, The Day Dreamers in the 60's. David also played the organ and keyboards, but his favorite hobby was working in his wood shop making beautiful trains, cars, etc. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport, where he operated No. 4 crane, for 42 years. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marijo (Chunkala) Day, two sons and two daughters-in-law, Timothy and Tracy Day of Charleroi and Kenneth and Rachelle Day of Belle Vernon, four grandchildren, Jessica, Hannah, Justin and Chad, one sister, Mary Ann Varga of Monessen, two brothers-in-law, Jerry Chunkala and wife Dolores of Fellsburg and Thomas Chunkala of Pricedale, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Gray and a brother, Charles Day. Family and Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. David Zona officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
