David A. Day; 75; of Lynnwood; Belle Vernon; passed away on Tuesday; October 25; 2011 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A son of the late Charles and Sara (Eland) Day; he was born in Monessen on June 8; 1936. He was an accomplished guitar player and had his own band; The Day Dreamers in the 60’s. David also played the organ and keyboards; but his favorite hobby was working in his wood shop making beautiful trains; cars; etc. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport; where he operated No. 4 crane; for 42 years. Survivors include his wife of 51 years; Marijo (Chunkala) Day; two sons and two daughters-in-law; Timothy and Tracy Day of Charleroi and Kenneth and Rachelle Day of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren; Jessica; Hannah; Justin and Chad; one sister; Mary Ann Varga of Monessen; two brothers-in-law; Jerry Chunkala and wife Dolores of Fellsburg and Thomas Chunkala of Pricedale; and a host of nieces; nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a sister; Jean Gray and a brother; Charles Day. Family and Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.
