John Frank Kushnar, 87, of Fayette City, passed away peacefully on Thursday. April 16, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Star Junction, son of the late John Kushnar and the late Ann Frederick Kushnar. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon and the Fayette City American Slovanic Club. John retired from U.S. Steel, Clairton works in 1985. He is survived by three children; son, David Kushnar and wife, Lenora, of Smock; two daughters, Joanne Kushnar and Lynn Bennett and wife, Dennis "DJ," both of Fayette City, Pa.; granddaughter, Sarah Kushnar; grandson, Brandon Kushnar, granddaughter, Kendyle Bennett; brother, Edward Kushnar and wife, Marge, of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Hela Kushnar; three brothers, Max, Stanley and Edmund Kushnar; three sisters, Mary Kushnar DelCanton, Jenny Kushnar Dzvonik, and Emily Kushnar Tataryzn. Family and friends will be received Monday, April 20, 2015, from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, PA, 724-326-5621, www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Prayers of transfer will be recited on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the St. Sebastian Church with the Msgr. Roger A. Statnick as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon. Members of St. Sebastian Church will recite the Rosary Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
