Obituary

Joann L. Vizza, 79, of Monessen, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, in Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Mt. Lebanon, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in North Belle Vernon on Aug. 8, 1931, the daughter of the late Gino and Fabiola (Sylvester) Niccolai. Joann grew up in Belle Vernon, and was a 1949 graduate of Vernon High School. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monessen, and had worked as a clerk for the American Chain and Cable Co. Pages Plant in Monessen, and also at the Belle Vernon Foodland. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joseph J. Vizza, two daughters and a son-in-law, Teresa and Paul Riskey, of South Park, and Jennifer Vizza, of Southside, Pittsburgh, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Marcella Niccolai, of Washington Township, and Harry and Bonnie Niccolai, of Monessen, one sister, Kathleen McCullough, of Belle Vernon, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank Vizza, of Belle Vernon, Rosalie and Ralph Nicksich, and Dorothy Vizza, all of Monessen, and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Boyce. Friends will be received on Sunday, Sept. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Monday, Sept. 6, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, (724) 684-8750. Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 7, beginning with a 9:30 a.m. blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church.
