Obituary

Fred Federer Jr.,85,of West Newton,passed away Tuesday,Jan.31,2012,in Monongahela Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. He was born Sept.15,1926,in Roscoe,a son of the late Fred Frederick Federer and Rose Mae Simmons Federer. Fred was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel,Monessen Plant,a U.S.Navy veteran of World War II and an avid bowler and fisherman. Fred was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Fred is survived by his fiancee,Betty Bedner,of West Newton,grandson,Jason Federer and wife,Jennifer,great-grandson,Jaxon Frederick Federer,close family friend,Jay Angeline and wife,Patty,nieces and nephews,Dennis Ferencz,Edwin K.Smock,Robert Smock Jr.,Donna Mae Watson,Renee Smail,Mom Denitti,Jake and Betty Ann Kelly,Tom Cunningham,Gloria Tomer and Karen Oakley. Also survived by numerous nieces,nephews and cousins not mentioned. He was preceded in death by his wife,Dolores Betty Morton Federer,on June 20,2008,a son,Fred Federer,in 1981,sisters and brothers,Rosella,Luzella,Charles,Essie,Goldie,Margaret,Thelma,Dorothy and Mary. Friends will be received Thursday,Feb.2,2012,from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.in the ELEY-McCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC.,334 Main St.,Fayette City,Pa.,(724)326-5621,www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Memorial service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home with Pastor Michael Sneeringer officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Belle Vernon Cemetery,Belle Vernon.
