Obituary

Edith May Payne, 93, of Charleroi, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, in Hallsworth House, Charleroi. Born April 16, 1917, in Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late Logan and Anna Stoner. In addition to her parents , she is preceded in death by her husband, Otto Payne, Sr., two sons, Otto Payne Jr. and Oliver Payne, one daughter, Rosetta Pierce, two sisters, Rosabell Harvey and Lucille Woods, two brothers, Dressel Stoner and Edward Drew, two grandchildren, Adam Payne and Attilles Payne, Sr., two great-grandchildren, Anglea Littlejohn and Jason Towler. Edith was a domestic homemaker and a lifelong resident of Charleroi. She was a former member of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Charleroi and currently a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Belle Vernon, where she served on the Nurses Board, Senior Missionary and Mother of the Church. She was also a member of Senior Action Council (SAC) and Vallires Social Club. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Henry (Judith) Payne, of Charleroi, six grandchildren, Donna Littlejohn, Dorinda (James) Stepoli and Terri Payne, all of Monessen, Denise (Michael) Branham of Houston, Texas, Joan J.J. (Bernard) Wilkerson, of Carroll Township, and Ashantis Payne, of Phoenix, Ariz., 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, Feb. 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 9, from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service in Antioch Baptist Church, 945 Henry St., Belle Vernon, with the Rev. Clifford Carter officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the BEVERLY C. DRAPER FUNERAL HOME INC., 608 Sixth St., Monessen (724) 684- 6242.
