Rudolph A. ‘Rudy' Halgas, 88, of North Belle Vernon, died Monday, October 26, 2015 at 2:20 pm at Victoria House, Monessen. Born July 24, 1927 in North Belle Vernon, PA he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Wozniak Halgas. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon, Mr. Halgas was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church, and was a retired clerk from Whg-Pgh Steel, Monessen Plant. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the US Coast Guard, was a member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department, the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026, Pricedale Russian Club and the PNA. He is survived by a son Brian Halgas of Pittsburgh; daughter & son in law Noreen & Joseph Newhouse of Belle Vernon; two granddaughters Samantha Dawson and husband Jonathan, Audrey Halgas and a great granddaughter Gianna Dawson. He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia V. 'Doed" Venneri Halgas; three brothers Ernest S. Halgas, Joseph Halgus, Mack Halgas and a sister Genevieve Zema. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 AM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183 followed by prayer service at 11:30 am in the funeral home and funeral mass at 12:00 noon at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick Pastor as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Rudolph A. Halgas to the Westmoreland County Meals on Wheels.
