William J. Horan; 85; passed away Sunday; Feb. 15; 2009; in Mt. Vernon of South Park. He was born Feb. 20; 1923; in Central City; Pa.; a son of William and Zeta (Baldwin) Horan. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers; Leroy Horan and David L. Horan; and three sisters; Lucille Badock; Dolores Gallagher and Joanne Deneen. Mr. Horan was an avid square dancer; proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy; and he was a member of American Legion Post No. 659 in Belle Vernon. Mr. Horan also enjoyed the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. Survivors include his wife of 62 years; Caroline (Chisholm) Horan; of Monessen; two sons; William T. Horan and wife Lori; of Gainesville; Va.; and Michael Horan and wife Becky; of Elizabeth; one daughter; Cindy Short and husband Regis; of Bethel Park; six grandchildren; Jennifer Moores and husband Brian; of Haymarket; Va.; Michael W. Horan and wife Cindy; of Lancaster; Pa.; Erika Horan; of Elizabeth; and Matthew; Dan and Katie Short; of Bethel Park; six great-grandchildren; Ally; Logan; Andrew; Brennan; Connor and Julia; two brothers; Thomas Horan and wife Elsie; of Rostraver Township (Fellsburg); and Verne Horan and wife Sue; of Belle Vernon; three sisters; Sally ‘Sarah’ Hrycko; of Monessen; Kathleen Uchrinsko; of West Newton; and Colleen Luko; of Bentleyville; and several nieces; nephews and cousins. Friends will be received in the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME; 40 Second St. Ext.; Donora (724-379-6900); on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday; Feb. 18; from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; at which time a blessing service will be held with the Rev.
