After a short illness; Julius M. Magic Mick Kerekes; 57; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township); died Monday; June 16; 2008. Born April 13; 1951; in North Charleroi; he was the son of the late Julius J. Kerekes. Mick was a devoted husband and son and spent most of his adult life caring for his family. He is survived by his wife; Jamie Geyer Kerekes; to whom he was married 13 years; and his mother Helen C. Fekula Kerekes; with whom he shared his home; and several aunts; uncle and cousins. After graduation from California State College; Mick worked as both a steelworker and coalminer and was the owner/operator of Power Line Motorcycle Shop in North Belle Vernon. His hobbies included fishing; hunting and motorcycles; but his heart belonged to rock and roll right from the beginning. Mick was inspired by the music and easily mastered the guitar and blues harp. As a musician and a singer; over the years Magic Mick played with many rock and roll bands. His music career began in the early 70’s when he played with Black Jack Mulligan. Mick shared his talent by giving guitar lessons to young and old alike. Many of his former students will remember Mick every time their fingers touch the guitar strings. Mick was fun loving; kind and generous with everyone he met. Wherever he played; Mick filled the room with the spirit of rock and roll. Mick was Magic. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; Family Owned and Operated; 626 Broad Avenue; Belle Vernon; (724) 929-6183. Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Charles P. Esposito; Parochial Vicar of St. Sebastian R.C. Church; officiating.
