Emma L. Beneccio; 87; of Dayton; Ohio; formerly of Monessen; passed away in Brighton Gardens Assisted Living of Dayton on Wednesday; Jan. 14; 2009. A daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Ferencz Girhiny; she was born in Pricedale (Rostraver Township) on Sept. 26; 1921. Formerly of Monessen; Emma was a former member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and had resided in Dayton since 1991. Prior to her marriage; Emma was employed in the accounting department of Pittsburgh Steel. She was a member of several card clubs and enjoyed baking; cooking and entertaining. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; Cindy and Bob Puskar and Kathy and Jeff Sabatine; all of Centerville; Ohio; two sisters; Elizabeth Girhing; of Pricedale; and Julia Matway; of Craven Hill; one brother and two sisters-in-law; Bernard A. and Betty Girhiny; of Rostraver Township; and Violet Norman; of Mayfield Heights; Ohio; and one brother-in-law; Laurence Gocella; of New Castle; Del.; her grandchildren; Jason Puskar and wife Erin O’Donnel; of Milwaukee; Wis.; Bryan Puskar; of St. Louis; Mo.; and Mark Puskar; of Washington; D.C.; and one great-grandson; Owen Puskar; of Milwaukee. Emma is also survived by many dear friends in the Monessen and Belle Vernon areas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years; Albert A. Beneccio; in 1986; her sister; Margaret Gocella; her brother; Julius Girhiny; and three brothers in infancy. Mondello as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home Friday at 3:30 p.m.; led by members of St. Sebastian Parish.
