Obituary

John Calvin Cal Smith, 84, of Monessen, went to join his beloved wife on Sunday, May 17, 2009, in Westmoreland Hospital. He was born Thursday, July 24, 1924, in Monessen, a son of the late George and Grace Bedsworth Smith. He worked as a carpenter for Derby Construction and was self-employed prior to his retirement. Mr. Smith was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the American Legion Post 28, Monessen. Mr. Smith was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local 1044. Survivors are daughter, Barbara and husband Lloyd Buddy Eicher of Farmington, daughter Patricia Terensky of Monessen, daughter Elaine Smith of Monessen, daughter Carol and husband Paul Petrusky of Latrobe, son Gary and wife Doreen Smith of Monessen, daughter Geraldine and husband Kenneth Bojarski of Bethel Park, grandson, Christopher Bojarski, granddaughter Abigail Smith, a brother, Jay Smith of Monessen, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline Gilotty Smith, and a brother, Vernon Smith. Arrangements have been entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Boulevard, Monessen, where visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mr. Smith's name may be made to the First Christian Church of Monessen in lieu of flowers.
