Obituary

Ann Plevel Husovitz,92,of Residence at Hilltop formerly of North Belle Veron,died Tuesday,April 24,2012 at 5:25 am at Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Twp. Born December 7,1919 in Fallowfield Twp.,she was the daughter of the late Michael and Luba Kobasic Plevel. Mrs.Husovitz was a resident of Belle Vernon for the past 62 years. Ann was an active leader and participant in the communoty for most of her adult life. Her deep sense of service to others included starting the Meals on Wheels program in Belle Vernon,recruiting of volunteers to assist in driving neighbors and friends to the hospital,doctor appointments and grocery shopping. Ann was also a lont-time member of the Mon-Vale Health Resources Inc.and Volunteer at Mon Valley Hospital. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522 for 62 years,served as Regent for 14 years,District Deputy and State chairman for the Covenant House. She also served as President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for many years where she directed fundraisers and collected donations to place in cards to give to veterans on their trips to visit them in VA hospitals. Ann was a member of St.Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon where she served as a lector,homebound eucharistic minister,past president of the Ladies Guild,member and past perfect of the former St.Sebastian Legion of Mary,was active in church fundraising,was a CCD teacher and past member of parish council. Ann was also instrumental in the Rosary project where she and other volunteers would make and provide Rosaries for thousands of people across the world. One of her most honored accolades was the Salt and Light Award for humanitarianism along with meeting Mother Theresa whom she patterned her life after. She is survived by two daughters & sons-in-law,Maryann & David Pierallini of Venetia,Kathy & Bruce Newstat of Northfield,New Jersey,two grandchildren,David Newstat & wife Melissa,Amy Newstat,two great-grandchildren,Gregory Newstat and Erin Newstat,sister Marge Dayner of Monongahela,sister-in-law,Jule Plevel of Belle Vernon and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband,Wassil Husovitz on Feb.6,1988,five brothers,Martin,Steve,Nick,Joseph and Frank Plevel and two sisters,Barbara Sendek and Kay Chacko. Visitation will be held Friday from 3-8 pm at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations,Family Owned and Operated,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,724-929-6183. Prayer Service will be held Saturday at 8:45 am in the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m.at St.Sebastian R.C.Church with the Rev.Msgr.Roger A.Statnick,Pastor,as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St.Sebastian parish will pray the Rosary for the departed soul of Ann Husovitz on Friday at 3:30 pm in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Ann Husovitz to Family Hospice and Palliative Care,50 Moffett St.,Pittsburgh,PA 15243.
