Martha Marie "Mickey" Sutherland, 88, of Speers Hill, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late William and Ada Williams Best, she was born in California, Pa., on Nov. 15, 1926. Mickey spent most of her adult life in Speers where she was a member of the Speers United Methodist Church. Mickey was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband, Jay F. Sutherland, with whom she would have celebrated 68 years of marriage on Jan. 2, 2015; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and his wife, Lauren Sutherland of Lecanto, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and her husband, Darrell Shannon of Speers; six grandchildren, Kristin and Lou Pergola, Erin and Sam Campieri, Ryan and Jennifer Shannon, Eric and Cathy Sutherland, Ashley Sutherland and Ian Sutherland; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa Campieri, Katie Pergola, Christian Pergola, Samantha Campieri, Vaughn Shannon, Paige Shannon; and one great-great-grandchild, Brenley Farner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters; one granddaughter, Heather Shannon on May 22, 1971; and one great-grandson, Alec Pergola on Feb. 22, 1996. Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday with her son-in-law, Darrell Shannon officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
