Dorothy Ivy Vickers Leasure; of Belle Vernon (Lynnwood); passed away peacefully in her home with her loving family at her side on Friday; July 15; 2011. Born June 14; 1920; in Derby; England; she was the only child of John Thomas Vickers and Gladys Revell Vickers Bloice. A homemaker; Dorothy studied nursing in London; England; and worked treating injured civilians and allied troops during World War II. Her patients referred to her as ‘Sunshine’. She came to the United States after marrying her husband; George Leasure; and became a U.S. citizen in 1951. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon; belonging to the United Methodist Women; Ruth Circle and the Eastern Star Lodge 205 (Monessen). She is survived by her husband of 66 years; George Leasure; whom she married May 16; 1945; three daughters; Mary; of Los Angeles; Penny; of Newport News; Linda Susan; of Belle Vernon; and three sons; Alan; of Atlanta; Chester; of Wiesbaden; Germany; Rodger; of Rostraver Township; ten grandchildren; Wil and Alicia; of Los Angeles; Brenda; Becky; Georgina; Shawna and Sam; of Belle Vernon; Alan Jr. and Larissa; of Atlanta and Robbie; of Wiesbaden; nine great-grandchildren; her cousin; Frank Coe and his wife; Kay; of England; and her brother-in-law; Ernest (Pete) Leasure and his wife; Fay; of West Virginia.
