Obituary

Surrounded by his family, beloved husband, father, brother and pap, Joseph Mendicino, 82, of North Belle Vernon, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2008. Born February 2, 1926 in Belle Vernon, he was the son of the late Domenico and Josephine Ambrose Mendicino. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon, Mr. Mendicino was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church, Belle Vernon, was a veteran of World War II where he served in the US Air Force and was retired from Whg-Pgh Steel, Allenport Plant as a railroad engineer. He was also a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Catherine Savage Mendicino, 4 sons & 2 daughters in law Michael Mendicino of Speers, Mark & Judith Mendicino of Rostraver Twp., David Mendicino of Speers, James & Melcena Mendicino of West Newton, 2 brothers & sister in law Michael Mendicino of Belle Vernon, James & Irene Mendicino of Washington Twp., 5 sisters & 4 brothers in law Ann Ross of Belle Vernon, Rose & Leo Sabatini of Almont, MI, Adeline & Nick Nuccetelli of Jeannette, Norma & Ralph Falbo of White Oak, Teresa & Donald O'Toole of North Belle Vernon, 11grandchildren, Jason & Wife Stephanie, Domenic & Wife Jennifer, Michael & Wife Nicole, Joseph, Daniel, Amy & husband Justin, Laura, Sarah, Rebecca, Jamie, Jared and 7 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son Joseph Mendicino, sister in law Viola Mendicino and brother in law John Ross. He has left a lasting legacy of hard work, humor and love that will continue in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and in the laughter of his great grand kids. Visitation will be held Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayer Service will be held Monday at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas Pastor as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services at 7 pm and the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus will conduct services at 7:30 pm all in the funeral home. Parish rosary will be held Monday at 9:30 am in St. Sebastian Church.
