Joseph C. Toth; 91; of Belle Vernon; passed away Friday; Dec. 11; 2009; in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A son of the late John and Cora Smith Toth; he was born in Arnold City on Aug. 24; 1918. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and was a 50-year life member of the American Legion Post 659; both of Belle Vernon; as well as the Naomi Athletic Club and the Mon Valley Pitt Golden Panthers. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; he was an avid sports fan. Joe and his brother owned and operated the former Toth Brothers Market in Belle Vernon and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law; Darlene K. and Jim Kelly of Cayucos; Calif.; and Janice Toth of Pittsburgh; one son and daughter-in-law; Joseph R. Toth and Judith Diorio; of Pittsburgh; two sisters; Dorothy Pierce; of Fairbanks; Alaska; and Margaret Frosini; of Finleyville; one brother and two sisters-in-law; Clifford H. and Theresa Toth; of Belle Vernon; and Helen Toth; of Speers Hill; five grandchildren; Jimmy Kelly and fiance; Emily Stokes; Jeffrey and Shauna Kelly; all of the state of California; Nathan Diorio-Toth; of Philadelphia; Hannah and Luke Diorio-Toth; both of Pittsburgh; one great-granddaughter; Leila Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife; Virginia J. Reed Toth; on Dec. 19; 2002; and five brothers; John W.; Thomas E.; Louis R.; Melvin J. and Steven E. Toth. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. A blessing service will be in the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Rev. Lawrence Manchas as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. On Wednesday; the rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 3 p.m. led by members of St. Sebastian Parish; and the American Legion will hold services at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers; memorial donations may be made to the Belle Vernon Fire Company No. 2; 10 Main Street; Belle Vernon; PA 15012; or a charity of one’s choice.
